Meet Dr. Tramaine Wilkinson

Hi, I’m Dr. Tramaine (pronounced truh-MAYN), a board-certified preventive medicine physician and the founder of Wismar Med.

My Journey

Throughout my career, I’ve cared for patients in a variety of settings, including rural hospitals, emergency departments, free clinics, and one of Georgia’s largest health systems. No matter where I practiced, I saw the same problem: too many people struggled to access timely, affordable healthcare. Many patients simply needed a refill of a medication they had safely taken for years but no longer had a primary care physician, had recently moved, or couldn’t access the care they needed to continue their treatment.

Why I Created Wismar Med

This issue is personal to me. I’ve taken thyroid medication since high school and, after moving multiple times for school and work, experienced firsthand how frustrating it can be to stay on a routine medication when you’re between doctors. That experience helped inspire Wismar Med, a practice built to provide fast, convenient access to care when life gets in the way.

Medical Cannabis Evaluations

In addition to medication refill evaluations, I also provide Georgia medical cannabis certification evaluations for qualifying patients. After caring for individuals with chronic pain, cancer, and other serious medical conditions, I’ve seen how medical cannabis can improve quality of life for the right patients when used appropriately.

Even in the emergency department, many of my patients simply needed medication refills or help maintaining treatment for chronic conditions. Seeing those gaps in access firsthand inspired me to create Wismar Med.

Wismar is the community where I spent my early childhood in Guyana, South America. It was named after the German city of Wismar by early settlers. Although I was born in Guyana, I grew up in Lithonia, in metro Atlanta, and have proudly called Georgia home since I was eight years old.

When it came time to name my practice, I wanted something that honored both my roots and the community that helped shape me. Wismar is a reminder of where my journey began, while Wismar Med represents my commitment to serving the people of Georgia with affordable, accessible, compassionate, and convenient healthcare.
